Midnight Mayhem Concept of Operations

Presented by: Run and Gun Solutions

SITUATION:

It’s dark roughly half of the time. Shooting at night is an essential skill. Major events have occurred, and mayhem has ensued. Competitors have found themselves in the midst of darkness and mayhem and must fight their way to safety.

MISSION:

This operation will assess the competitors’ skills and fitness at night. With two divisions to shoot in, White Light and Night Vision, your performance will be evaluated against others inside and outside the division. NV division may not use any visible light during a shooting stage or else they will be bumped to the WL division. Infrared (IR) lights with a soft red glow at the source are excused from the visible light stipulation.

DATE AND TIME:

August 2nd (Range Officers) & August 3rd (Paid Competitors)

Mandatory safety brief at 1900 (7pm) for your day of competition, individual course departure times TBD.

AOR:

Dos Hermanos Ranch, 13275 Glass Road, San Angelo, Texas 76901

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

Competitors will check in at headquarters to be issued a score card and green chem light. Competitors will then depart on the course at the designated time that they receive during the safety brief. Carrying everything they need to complete eight pistol and/or rifle stages dispersed throughout a five-mile course. The course will be one way, designated by numerous evenly spaced white LED lights on the ground.

When arriving at a stage, follow range officer commands and receive a verbal/written stage brief at each stage. No stage walkthroughs. General target locations will be designated by small red LED lights. The red lights may or may not provide the needed amount of illumination to engage the target. Shooters will be responsible for their own target illumination. For any target ~/=/>100 yards, illumination and distance will be provided.

Once finished with the course and stages, report back to the headquarters table to turn in score cards, arbitrate scores if needed, and receive match tee shirt.

COURSE OF FIRE: TBD, Estimated round count: 50 Pistol - 50 Rifle

LODGING:

Limited range officer lodging is available in the spectacular ranch lodge. First reserved for the setup crew, then first come first serve for what’s left. Camping is allowed at the designated camping area. Commercial lodging is close in San Angelo, only 17 miles away.

-NV Division only: Nods and IR laser/illuminator, NO VISIBLE LIGHT during stages (green lasers included), may use visible light to navigate the course for safety.

SAFETY ISSUES:

DARKNESS. All competitors must wear their green chem light so that it is visible from the front or back. All range officers will wear blue chem lights in a similar fashion. Course and stage trails will be marked with white LED lights on the ground. Target locations will be designated with stationary red LED lights on the ground or trees. Green and Blue = NO SHOOT, RED = Dead. Navigating the course with red light is highly discouraged.

Everyone is a safety officer. RO’s and Competitors must clear the shooting area visually and verbally before starting the shot timer.

No part of the course is unmarked. If you do not see a string of white lights, you are lost. Go back to the last white light witnessed and pick up the course from there. Do not continue into the darkness!

-See Rules for comprehensive match safety regulations.

ADMINISTRATIVE:

-Lodge is limited to Range Officer staff only.

-Use the provided porta-potties.

-No ground fires. Only above ground pits allowed. Properly dispose of extinguished ashes.

-See Rules for comprehensive administrative directions.
